Appointment will be made on salary scale €41,317 - €53,304) at a point in line with Government pay policy.

Position Summary

 

To provide efficient and effective support to the Supplies Department in the management, control, and distribution of stock and non-stock items across the hospital. The post holder will ensure timely procurement, receipt, storage, and delivery of goods and services in compliance with procurement policies and hospital procedures.

Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in processing purchase requisitions and orders using the hospital’s procurement systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock levels, deliveries, and usage using stock control systems.
  • Liaise with wards, departments, and suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, returns, and queries.
  • Support the receipt and inspection of incoming goods, ensuring accuracy and quality of deliveries.
  • Participate in regular stock checks and audits as directed by the Supplies/Procurement Manager.
  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and rotation of stock to minimize wastage.
  • Follow up on outstanding orders or delivery issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HSE procurement guidelines, and health and safety regulations.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized supplies area.
  • Provide cover and support for colleagues in the Supplies Department as required.

 

Qualifications

Mandatory

 

Skills and Competencies Required:

 

•             Strong organizational and administrative skills.

•             Familiarity with stock control and procurement systems.

•             Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and suppliers.

•             Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

•             Ability to work as part of a team and independently under pressure.

•             Understanding of health and safety practices in a hospital environment.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

·         Leaving Certificate or equivalent.

·         Relevant experience in a hospital or similar healthcare supply chain environment is desirable.

·         Experience with public sector procurement processes is an advantage.
