The Decontamination Manager will provide leadership to the Decontamination Management team, along with planning, coordinating and directing the daily operations of the decontamination function across Beaumont Hospital.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• The position shall encompass all aspects and functions of the decontamination processes that occur within the organisation.
• Assist with the development and maintaining of quality standards and policies by supporting Deputy Decontamination Managers in the development of policies and procedures.
• Assist Deputy Decontamination Managers to monitor and develop policies, quality improvement plan and /or strategies for approval by the Hygiene / IPC/Decontamination steering group or appropriate committee
• Assist with the collation of information needed in order to support all aspects of decontamination objectives within the hospital.
• Disseminate all information, received from the HSE Quality Improvement Division (QID) and/or PCCC Directorates/relevant agencies relating to decontamination of RIMD within the organisation.
• Ensure that the audit activity for decontamination of RIMD, under the responsibility of each Deputy Decontamination Manager has been completed.
• Attend appropriate meetings and conferences local and national, relevant to decontamination of RIMD.
• Ensure confidentiality of all information in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 1998, Trust in Care and Hospital policy.
• Take an active role in the development and implementation of decontamination projects plans.
• Ensure that all stakeholders have an opportunity to input in to the continuity and improvements of decontamination.
• Assist with the establishment and maintaining of regular, robust monitoring and reporting systems, including report writing, delivery of presentation and collation of relevant data.
• Assist with the carrying out or organising of decontamination audits within the organisation and the coordination of relevant data to the COO/ Executive Head of Decontamination Head of Decontamination
• Provide annual decontamination reports as required
• Advise on decontamination risk within the organisation
• Facilitate decontamination process re-design and service re-engineering projects, where necessary, in the organisation.
• Ensure in so far as is possible the active engagement of key stakeholders in all decontamination projects.
• Work with clinicians and Deputy Decontamination Managers to develop and improve the systematic approach to decontamination of RIMD.
• Assist with training and development requirements in all aspects of the decontamination processes wherever they occur within the organisation are met as appropriate.
• Co-ordinate the development of policy, procedures and guidelines in all aspects of the decontamination processes wherever they occur within the organisation.
• Ensure that quality standards are promoted, implemented and monitored.
• Coordinate hospital decontamination strategy, in line with the HSE Standards and recommended practices and European Standards for the decontamination of RIMD
• Take on a leadership role in the implementation of various practices to achieve compliance with current MDR guidelines at the direction of COO/Executive Head of Decontamination
• Work with various external agencies/entities as directed by the COO/Executive Head of Decontamination to deliver/redevelop/audit & investigate decontamination services within Beaumont Hospital or other organisations as directed
• Take Operational lead on projects involving Decontamination / or otherwise deemed appropriate by COO.

Mandatory:
• Decontamination Management Qualification
• Qualified as an Authorised Person for Decontamination (AP)D
• Minimum of five years experience in decontamination including two in a management position in a similar sized hospital.
Desirable:
Strong background in the following categories would be highly desirable;
• Experience delivering quality improvement changes
• Experience delivering quality assurance practices within decontamination setting
• Broad knowledge base of various RIMD (Instruments, Endoscopes, Ultrasound Probes) and experience in supporting services in decontamination of these devices
• Other relevant management qualifications
