Reports to: The post holder is accountable to the Clinical Director in the Emergency Medicine Directorate

Salary: Appointment will be made on the Consultant Contract 2023 (€233,527 – €280,513) at a point in line with Government pay policy.

Hours of work: 37 Hours Per Week

Consultant in Emergency Medicine

 

The enthusiastic Emergency Medicine team, in the adult only Emergency Department in Beaumont Hospital, provides care to in excess of 60,000 adult patients annually. The catchment population is amongst the oldest in Ireland. The Emergency Medicine team treat all medical, surgical and psycho-social emergencies.

We are looking for a colleague to join us as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine in Beaumont Hospital as part of the RCSI Hospitals Group on the Consultant Contract (2023). The commitment for this post will be to Beaumont Hospital (33.5 hours per week) and RCSI (3.5 hours per week).

Applicants must be on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners, or entitled to so be within 6 months, as maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland in the speciality of Emergency Medicine.

We are a higher specialist training site and the Consultant team is active in clinical care, teaching, research and audit. This is a clinically busy job and we would be delighted to be joined by an enthusiastic, hardworking Emergency Medicine Specialist who wants to contribute to the care we deliver to our patients as part of a great team of Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals.


BEAUMONT HOSPITAL

 

Beaumont Hospital, incorporating St. Joseph’s Hospital, Raheny is a major academic teaching hospital providing emergency and acute care services across 54 medical specialties to a local community of some 290,000 people. Beaumont Hospital is one of the lead Level 4 hospitals within the HSE Dublin and North East Region, which includes Connolly Hospital, Rotunda Hospital, Cavan/Monaghan Hospitals, Louth/Meath Hospitals, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh, Rotunda Hospital, and Beaumont Hospital which is the principal teaching hospital for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

 

With a workforce of approximately 4,500 staff and a combined bed complement of 1058 (IP & DC) beds, Beaumont Hospital is the principal teaching hospital for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. It also enjoys close links with Dublin City University, especially in the area of nurse training, and with other academic institutions in respect of training and research.


Beaumont Hospital is a designated Cancer Centre and the regional treatment centre for Ear, Nose & Throat, and Gastroenterology, the national referral centre for Neurosurgery and Neurology, Renal Transplantation, the National Poisons Information Centre, Cochlear Implantation and Mechanical Thrombectomy. The Hospital has been recently designated as a European Stroke Organisation (ESO) stroke centre.
